A Lloyd's Register Software Conformity Assessment reviews whether a software product is built and documented in a way that can support marine operations and survey confidence. The assessment can cover architecture, testing evidence, user documentation, security policy, change control, and development practices.

For vendors, this can help when serving LR-classed vessels or commercial operators that want additional evidence for surveys and internal audits. It signals that the software has been assessed against a recognized class framework.

Not having an SCA does not automatically make software unacceptable in an ISM audit. ISM Code certifies the company's Safety Management System through DOC and SMC processes; auditors need to see whether the operator's records are complete, controlled, retrievable, and consistent.
